Of course, as much as I like the Open Source movement, I think that whole "more secure" thing needs to be taken with a grain of salt. I remember back in the golden age of hacking, shortly after the movie "Wargames" was released, that any kid with a modem and an Apple II or Commodore 64 was cracking Unix systems like eggs ( shadowed password files were a joke ). I've seen enough to know that people who believe in computer security are delusional, at best.
Open Source is both a plus and a minus when it comes to security. You explained the minus, but also remember that when many people look at the code, bugs are spotted faster and it's easier to find a solution for each problem. A bugtracking site would be a good idea.

Having something set up like Bugtraq is for the future. I figure that can be done when PSOpen is alpha. This project isn't even at the pre-pre-alpha phase. lol You forgot to mention setting up CVS or Subversion for developers, too. :P Even with Unix and Linux, computer security is mostly squashing bugs and patching holes. The number of worms, trojans, viruses, and other exploits for those OSes and major web apps like Mozilla keeps growing every year. So-called "computer security" is merely putting out fires as they flare up. Software of any kind is inherently unstable. Programmers are not omnipotent (regardless of what they say) and cannot fully anticipate how an end-user will interact with the software or how the software will interact with other software. That said, how about you go find a memory map of the variables used in PSO and document them, Nettapu? Use some of that PSO hacking stuff you used to know.

Well, judging by the lack of activity in this thread I'd say that PSOpen has closed it's doors here. Looks like this will be a one-man job after all. Later, peeps.
