I haven't really kept up to date on the DS piracy/homebrew scene, but I'm looking into setting up something to play commercial roms on my DS. I'm aware that this involves a method of getting the DS to boot from the GBA slot in DS mode, but there's not information on which device is the best one to use.So, here's my questions:1. Should I use a PassMe or install the Firmware hack?2. I have a Flash2Advance Ultra 1G flashcart, would that be a sufficient storage device or should I look into a GBA movie player with removeable SD cards?3. If I get a PassMe, which one is the best for running commercial games? I want one that will allow me to save to the GBA cart rather than whatever DS game is in the PassMe.Unfortunately, the GBA emulation/homebrew boards I used to visit appear to be vacant or dead, so I'm hoping you guys know something.

Depends on how many games you want to take with you. If you don't care about only taking 1-4 games with you, you'll be fine.

Datel's Max Drive should be able to run homebrew aps which, in turn, could run commercial ROMS, and considering the drive is 4GB in size, that would probably be the way to go. I would wait until that thing's been fucked with inside out, cause it has a lot more pottential than any PassMe-Flascart combo.

Datel sucks. They only make crap that breaks when you look at it. Also, the DS Max Drive is way too expesive compared to other DS flashcarts. Get a M3 Perfect with a big CF/SD card and you'll be fine. It comes with a PassMe, so you don't have to worry about that.

Well, Action Replay sucks not. I have a bunch of Datel products and they work pretty well.

I have a Gamecube Action Replay, and the disc has a small crack near the middle. I'm not the only one having this problem. It also takes the Gamecube pretty long to start the Action Replay, and sometimes the Action Replay doesn't start at all. They also have stopped making codes for it. Even popular games (like Pokémon XD (PAL) and many others) haven't got a single code. That's not a big deal for me since I can hack, but there are tons of people who can't hack. Also, my disc is full of scratches. Why? Because the disc didn't get a DVD box or anything. It was just put in the box along with the memory card and the manual. Also, the Action Replay DUO is nothing but an original GBA Action Replay with an added DS cartridge slot. Datel makes you believe it's an actual DS cheating device, but it's just a safe file manager. A crappy safe file manager, because it doesn't even work with some DS games.Anybody who had a N64 Gameshark/Action Replay knows how fragile they are. They can become completely useless by just selecting the wrong keycode.

No.. they actually say on the box that it is loaded with saves for the ds games. and you can download other saves online if people actually shared them. Also is there a list of the games that don't work with the save manager? meh I still use my other AR carts for the gba.. one a v2 and one a v3.. Oh the AR Max Duo is ok for ds backing up but the AR side is crap to be honest .. no gba save management and its a pain to update the codes compared to the other carts. And finally why didn't you use a spare dvd case to store the GC AR in? it can hold the dongle and the disc safely. the box was too big to store easilly.

The thing is that the disc arrived with a shitload of scratches, because of their crappy box design. Also, I treat my discs very carefully and my AR disc even better, but still my AR disc is the only disc with a crack near the middle.About the AR DUO, I don't know about the box, but on their website they make it look like it can do codes for the DS. Let's take a look:

Quote

Action Replay MAX DUO is already loaded with unauthorized cheats and Powersaves for all the latest and greatest DS and GBA gamesLoaded with cheats and Powersaves for all the latest DS and GBA games
See? The way they worded everything makes it look like the AR DUO can do cheats for the DS, which it can't.
