I was a bit skeptical, but I shell out cash for every other port, so I figured why not?

Holy shit the load times on the PS3 version. I don't remember if the SA:DX version on PC or GC were this fast, but god-damn, every black-transition-screen, either within levels, level starting, or for cutscene transitions, they're fast. It was quite the pleasant surprise.

Also, did the DX version always allow you to skip cutscenes you hadn't seen before? I don't even recall that on the DC version, but it has been ages.

On an interesting note, you must purchase the DX features separately for $5 additional bucks. I didn't care about the missions or what other useless features it added, but it's required for all the trophy unlocks, which is very lame. In fact, all the trophy/achievements in the game are based on save-data specifically. Nothing you do in-game will unlock a trophy, which could have easily been accomplished but perhaps they weren't arsed to do anything more than port it.

Sounds terrible. I've heard of a few issues with those ports and on top of that you gotta pay extra for what? The Trials and Metal Sonic? Definitively not worth it AND it doesn't even come with the Game Gear games.

It's just another shitty and lazy port with terrible DLC that should have been included in the first. Just grab the used GC/PC version instead (PC version for extra modding fun) of encouraging Sega to do more bullshit like that.

The only thing that interests me is the SA1 re-skinning they did for DX. that would look nice for the PC version.

Heard the 360 version has got "NOW LOADING" screens up the asshole.

The thing that bothers me the most is the fact that Sega was practically bragging that it was only $10, but they never pointed out that they were going to charge the DX content seperately for $5. Kinda shitty if you ask me.

And my biggest complaint about this game is there's no widescreen settings. Would it have been hard to add that?

Apparently the addition is all of 4 lines of code, but the bigger problem is TESTING it. Sonic Adventure XBLA being shoved out on a budget as it was, the funds likely weren't there to test any more changes than what they did.

I'd been hearing some bad things about the PS3 version, but I'm tempted to go ahead and get it anyway. Although the whole 4:3 with absurd bars on the sides thing is pretty off-putting. Can't you play the game in widescreen on PC? I would have thought that for all the fuss they're making about it they'd have at least put the effort in. How long have they been working on this mess anyway?

The bad thing about the PS3 version is that this is a shitty game and a shitty port why are you guys giving Sega money for shitty Sonic games?

This could be the stupidest thing anyone's said about Sonic games in the last decade.

So I played the trial.

What the fuck. First of all, I do like how it is actually "Sonic Adventure" and not "Sonic Adventure DX Director's Just Added Some Missions And New Models But Not New HQ Textures Or NPCs", however dislike that they then sell that minus the new models at half the price again. FUCK that. May as well just get SADX on GC and play it on the Wii you're currently neglecting.

Secondly, the loading is fucking horrendous. Once again, the on-disc variants on console and even the PC version doesn't have these fucking awful loading times. What the fuck happened? I thought the whole "Stage title card" thing was to cover up loading times? But here? Select character... Now Loading... Title card... Now Loading... Stage... The PC version didn't have such shitty loading times either, what gives? There must be a reason. (My guess? It's probably CONSTANTLY checking for the DX upgrade content package. Hence the big-ass wait, like every other game with DLC. I fucking hate sitting there when a game boots up as it searches for additional content and loads it. Looking at you, Fallout 3.)

But here's the interesting thing, they added the old Sonic Adventure title screen... I'm guessing DX just has that title screen but it's disabled in favour of the DX title screen? Or they have it left-over in the DX source code somewhere... But as previously mentioned, no widescreen option. I know Dude has spoken at great length about just how shitty the SA engine is and the huge effort that would probably involved in getting widescreen on the go... But seriously? Not even a 'stretch to fit' option? And guess what? The DC, GC versions STRETCH TO FIT by default, doesn't look that bad on 16:9 at all.

If you bought this, I hate you. I don't care if you rationalise it with 'lol achievements'. I know a lot of you have a GC or a Wii and already probably have SADX, you people. I hate you the most. If this were a somewhat decent port, I wouldn't be so pissed. But it's fucking terrible. And given SEGA ports a lot of fucking games, especially Sonic titles, you'd think they'd have got this right. God damn.

I'm so tired of Sega and porting Sonic Adventure to every possible platform in the world.

*sees all the negative responses* Why am I not surprised? I'll stick with my copy of the original Dreamcast version, thank you very much.

Got the XBLA port, I like it. It's good. Y'know, just as good as the gamecube version.

It's been on Dreamcast, Gamecube, and PC. Now it's on 360 and PSN. Quit being melodramatic.

Why do you have to buy mission mode?

This looks like they took a damn gfx wrapper and called it a day.
