I defended SMG1! However, that pokemon thread title was out of date.

So I pre-ordered this today. How happy should I be?

I also get a free Mario money case for my troubles.

People preorder stuff in the UK? I don't mean to knock it, but games fall in price over here so quickly... Splinter Cell Conviction is £25 at hmv at the moment. Alan Wake is down to £30 at GAME of all places at the moment and that was only out last week.

Yeah, mainly doing it for a small discount and for my little brothers birthday a few days after it's released over here.

In before price drop.

I agree with SSUK, pre-ordering stuff is silly in the UK unless there's a relatively decent incentive. A money tin doesn't do it for me. Neither did it do it for me if I was ever going to buy NSMBWii.

On the other hand, if you don't pre-order games, but get them on release day, staff are usually relentless to hand over the pre-order goodies anywho. I knew that was the case with Pokemon HGSS as well as Final Fantasy 13 and Left 4 Dead 2. Heck, my Gamestation in Leicester advertises mainstream games like Pokemon, Final fantasy, Mario for 2 weeks, then flogs off the advertisements for <£5 each!

HMV are however sneakily amazing. If a new release isn't selling well, they usually discount it fairly well, but not only that, there are actually some seriously good bonuses which arn't advertised and yet are given upon purchase. My friend brought DJ Hero for £50 from HMV and ended up getting a DLC code, a DJ Hero Vinyl (With game samples, full size, works), AND a T-shirt (M,L,XL or XXL). This Saturday we brought Blur each for £40 and both got 800 MS points and a T-shirt (M,L,XL,XXL) which wasn't advertised anywhere.

I will do if there are freebies and collectables on offer like tins and shit, but that's about it. I'm a sucker for special editions. :(

I heard the game's a lot harder then the first. I think it's from that Gameinformer reviewer who hasnt played a videogame before.

Personally I havent had too much difficulty in getting most of the stars. The only really difficult parts for me were "Luigi's Purple Coins pt 2", "The Perfect Run", "Everything about the Stone Cyclone Galaxy", and all those green stars which required a leap of faith to obtain. I guess it's probably because I've played the first game to death that I've pretty much mastered the controls.

Also, I bust my ass off to complete "The Perfect Run", I'd expect a bit more then Rosalina making a cameo appearance on the ship to congratulate me, a message in my Wii inbox. I'm sure there's more then this.

Well I got it and must say that:
A) It's beautiful
B) It's harder

There are some of those secret rooms early on that wouldn appear in SMG1 until half the game.

In World 2, first galaxy (the one with lots of saws and wooden theme) you have to collect those musical notes (that sound like mario world)... well, you better be quick because the time is REALLY strict. The first time I missed the last one and I was like "damn, i can't believe they left you just enough time to not mess up"

Same thing with Fluffy galaxy, in that room with the coins. First you must get some coins forming a square. Then a second batch of coins forming a circle. Then a third batch, a bigger square and some in the center... and I havent go pass that. Certainly more challenging than SMG1, Of course all that shit is optional, but It's a start... we will se the rest of the levels.

Also, I think Yoshi boss fight (world 1, 2nd galaxy) would be problematic for people without experience

I'm enjoying it a lot

Bamp. I just took these screenshots:

All I can say is this: My life is complete. I can die happy now.

(And the die happy/life complete thing has nothing to do with the star count. That's just a save file I downloaded. I do have 241 stars though.)
