Need for Speed: Shift is a game that has been getting fairly positive reviews across the board. The game is definitely one of the better iterations to release in recent times. However, one blogger is calling it the most bug-ridden piece of code as he alleges that his Xbox 360 version of the game tried to access the Playstation Store.

Need for Speed: Shift is one game that is on my radar for review as it is sitting in queue. However, those playing the game already are starting to report bugs and glitches for the game. I’ve had just a brief time playing the game and so far the visuals look stunning, especially the in-dash view gets pretty intense.

One blogger from Freakybits [via Kotaku] is reporting that the Xbox 360 version of the game has a serious glitch that may cross some fanboy boundaries. Allegedly, the blogger’s Xbox 360 version of NFS: Shift attempted to connect to the Playstation Store from his 360.

Apparently, the user was navigating through some menus and the game crashed for no apparent reason. When investigating the crash screen further, the gamer noticed an odd message at the top right corner of the screen with the Playstation Store name and even the logo.

If this is indeed the case then EA, Microsoft and Sony will all have something to say about this. I can’t even describe the number of fanboy laws that are being broken with this bug. First of all, you have an Xbox 360 version of the game crash, secondly the crash was caused by the version trying to connect to the Playstation Store, and finally the Playstation Store refused connection to the Xbox 360. The implications are paramount – okay, I know I’m being silly, but its still a humorous situation nevertheless. I’ll be playing through the Xbox 360 version so I will try to replicate this bug. Stay tuned for an update on this story and our review of Need for Speed: Shift.

are there seriously people who will be pissed off about this because OMG MY SACRED CONSOLE? It's an interesting glitch but the idea that there are gamers out there whose lives are so miserable and vacuous that this offends their fanboy sensibilities, while maybe not surprising, is still pretty depressing. I didn't think anyone really cared that much about this sort of thing anymore.

Quoted for truth, and also, you'd be surprised.

EA. Quality. Bugs.

I don't see what the problem is here. Seems normal routine to me.

The fact it glitched out and executed code meant for the Playstation 3 version is quite funny though. You'd think they'd REMOVE the code, not just leave it inaccessible. It's not very surprising that it failed to call to the Store anyway, even if the XBL servers call out to random addresses (which I'm sure they DO NOT, since it's a huge security risk) I'm sure the PS Store would be looking for a specific useragent-like response from the console, thus would fail to retrieve data because the 360 wouldn't supply one or a required string. But from the looks of the shot, it didn't do anything. It just shows (probably the default) image and default field names, probably not even finished as development branched off for different consoles with no actual net-code run.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

EA: Ports? We don't port games to other consoles! Seriously, we don't.

Sony fanboys will be offended by the fact a FILTHY XBOX tried to access their beloved network.
Xbox fanboys will be offended by the fact FILTHY PS3 NETWORK code is on their system.

I'm laughing like hell at this.
