So, some guy at these forums has found this neat little fellow within the game's graphics:

No details on where exactly did he found it, though. They don't seem to be documenting which files have been ripped and which haven't, either, so there might be some more stuff waiting to be uncovered.

By the way, just for the record, turns out the original files seemed to already include Fake Man's intro and running animations, yet not his attacking frames.

Meh, I have tried to do some dumping and such in tandem with a few parts of Dolphin, but no luck so far, if you decompile the WAD though iirc the uncompressed art is in GBA 4bpp format, so you can load it up in TLP. I remember finding the graphics for the boss select screen.

Interesting, so it's possible they just used the same engine from that "Mega Man a" minigame in Megaman ZX Advent... Or perhaps Megaman 9 was initially going to be a DS game.

Could just have been that they used the same teams has those who worked on the GBA/DS titles and this format was one they recognised and knew how to use efficiently. Who knows?

K, lemme look into that GBA stuff some more, I will try to upload all the decompressed art and such for your use. Mind you though that I don't know the exact palette of this stuff, so you will have to make do with my estimations.

Edit 2: Edit: Also, this site might have some more stuff of that nature. http://www.sprites-i...read.php?t=7430
They are trying to decompress all the art in the game, maybe for a remake perhaps.
I fail, I need to read the first post better.
