CopyPasta from Retro:With graphics cards getting better and better, they can handle nearly anything.I've recently been spending some time playing games in 3D, but hey, you can do this too, all you need is a pair of red/cyan 3D glasses, which you can pick-up 2 pairs for about 99p on ebay.SADX in 3D, though it's not that great due to a strange rendering engine, it seems.Posted ImageAs you can see, it's far from perfect. Now we move on to Sonic Heroes:Posted ImagePlaying through Seaside hill in 3D was breath-taking. Definately worth a play.Posted ImageAnother image, just to show the autofocus. The best part about this is, it's not a plugin. It's a Driver that works with most PC games.http://www.iz3d.com/...rSetup.1.09.exeYou'll get an error about missing hardware during the installation, but that's not a problem.Once installed, launch the control center, and click on DirectX, under stereo status, select Enable Stereo, under Stereo Output, select Anaglyph and Red/Cyan.Posted ImageCall of Duty 4 in 3DPosted Imageand Again.[EDIT: It seems the second image, the better one is fucked. I'll have to go back ingame later =P ] Enjoy it, it makes games a whole lot more interesting.

There's been a lot of talk about stereoscopic gaming lately. I've never been a fan because of seeing everything bloody red and blue, but it definitely seems interesting.

They're working around the red and blue with what they call "Shutter Glasses", so you see in full colour.NVidia held a pretty big conference showing off their new 3D gaming graphics card. =P

Yeah, I noticed there was a feature on it in a recent issue of Edge, didn't get round to reading that one yet unfortunately and the new issue is out today, but I'll probably backtrack and have a look because those Shutter Glasses sound like quite an interesting development. Although I'd feel a little silly at my computer wearing both a headset and a pair of fancy stereoscopic glasses. =P

You'll be able to look silly too if you use a webcam display while playing online. =PBut yeah, i'll definately invest in the shutter-glasses and NVidia card when they're available.

If I ever get around to constructing a second rig, I'll probably use one just for experimenting. My main rig will always be as traditional as possible, though. Still meaning to upgrade my current card from a shitty 7600GT to a Radeon HD 4850 or something equivalent. What would most people recommend? The 9800 or the 4850?

I do have shutter glasses but you should be careful with them.. if you use a regular LCD flatscreen of today then most of them won't work properly.. why? Shutter glasses require refresh rates of at least 100 Hz - you'll ever need a special screen for that.. or a classic old-school CRT.Which I use.. and it works very decent I should say! There are other techniques nowadays, the most interesting seems to be double polarized monitors via DVI (VGA not possible to my knowledge).. those have a very good 3d effect just do not turn your head..

That CoD one looks the best of the lot, actually =PI'm looking forward to seeing some running demos with the shutter glasses, though. I remember the Terminator 4D ride at Universal and a couple of other things in the area had colour-based 3D and it looked really good, so we'll see what happens, I guess.

I picked up the 9400GT with 512mb DDR2, which when combined with my onboard 7050fx chip, works wonderfully. =P
