Imagine if you beat the Elite Four, and then you got assaulted on your way to Kanto. You wake up in a strange building and fight your way down a few floors to the bottom, and find your rival standing there with a personal bodyguard. Lance busts in, you fight them off, and then throughout Kanto, you're constantly fighting this new criminal team headed up by your rival. Then, when you beat all eight Kanto gyms and go to catch Mewtwo, your rival's gang is there, and you fight them as well as wild Pokémon. You get to Mewtwo, he's there. If you manage to beat him, he drops a Master Ball and escapes, letting you capture Mewtwo. If he wins, he catches Mewtwo and you wake up in the nearest PokéCenter. It would be fucking awesome. I know that's impossible but just imagine that scenario and think about how much it would rock if I worked at Game Freak. :V
And that's exactly why I hate Pokémon today, the simple plot worked back in the days but now, with such an universe they stick to the same shit. There's so much plot potential not being used...

WHO WANTS TO WATCH GAMEPLAY FOOTAGE OF SOME GUY WALKING IN A CIRCLE Nonstop?Seriously though, by watching that very brief clip, we can tell two things about the game already:1. The game uses a graphical style very similar to Diamond/Pearl/Platinum2. Your starter Pokemon can now follow you around like Pikachu did in Yellow.

The plot sounds very fanboyish, but I would probably still play it. Considering I never beat Lance due to my matchup incompetence, I have high expectations for Kanto.

This shit is gettin' real, kids. I'm told that the following can be gleaned from this (any Brazillians able to translate?):

*a load of Pokemon stuff
Yep, looks like they're trying to flush out the requirements of the GBA games.Second floor in the lab now, starter follows you around, wind effect.
Where is this information coming from? On the page, it says "nearly confirmed" stuff. Where is this nearly confirmed? I think this is just another false prophet, like with Smash Brother Brawl about a year and a half ago.

I think "fanboyish" is the wrong word to use here. The second generation had a story not held by the same old same old of some team trying to take over the world with super powerful pokemon, and a teenage boy that stops them. It was a light-hearted tale about a boy who wanted to become a Pokemon master, and traveled across the world, beating every trainer to do so, soon coming face to face with the original protagonist of the first Pokemon games. If that's not some epic shit right there, I don't know what is. It's currently the only Pokemon games with something that ties two series together in a way that is more than "He moved from Johto." or so on. Remember that it's not like they're going to change the story. When they remade Red and Green, the story was pretty much the same. You'll be getting the same thing you got back in 2000, only with a new coat of paint, on a whole new system. Be excited, you'll be playing one of the most epic Pokemon games ever released.

You're forgetting the whole Neo Team Rocket part of the story, and how you stop them from taking over the world. Their motives aren't like Team Magma, Aqua and Galactic in the other games, though. They're just in it for the money.

I wasn't aware of the "take over the world" aspect, anyway. I just thought they were a criminal organization, bent on profit, not even world domination. Did this change in GSC, or is it non-game source?

I think it was just me getting it wrong. Sorry about that. None the less, there is a Team Rocket aspect in it.

They were trying to take over the world for lulz iirc just they were doing it in the name of Giovanni, since he'd gone walkies.

All credit to them though - they're the only organisation that's tried it in 2 game generations =P

In fairness, on the Animé they're everywhere, well at least Jesse James and Meowth.Game related however, I guess Geographical restraints get in the way. Considering that Hoenn and Sinnoh could be possibly miles away from Johto and Kanto we don't know how far they are. I'm personally hoping that if anything, HG/SS will explain more geography to the Pokemon World and if / how it links with Sinnoh. Unless they're literally going to remake it word for word without a mention to any other region. I know 3rd/4th gen's had the occasional random villager in a house on their own mentioning tidbits like "There's bad guys in kanto called Team Rocket!" or little girls in the middle of the sea saying stuff like "I wish to go to Newbark Town one day when i grow up!"

I've heard reports that the girl falls into a position more like Dawn/Lucas, not a female PC. Of course, that could mean a much different story path, but that was already reported in less-than official sources...

I'm pretty sure she's playable too, just the male player will play the supporting character instead, like in DPPEither way I'm just happy that the rival is Silver and not that obnoxious fucker from sinnoh or anyone like him. One of the best things I've done so far in Platinum is naming my rival "Faggot". Really enhances the dialogue. "Hey, Faggot! "Oh, where has that Faggot run off to now!?"
