I managed to waste 20 dollars on a Sonic the Hedgehog for the 360, just so I could get the models from it. I don't even have a 360. XD So, is there any tutorial's on how I can rip them?

Well, congrats you bought a disc which can't be read by a standard computer DVD-ROM drive. You were better off downloading an ISO, but even then there isn't much documentation on how xose (or was it xrose.. can't remember) managed to decompile the file system in StH final and StH Market place demo.Do a search on the board for Sonic Next-gen hacking and you'll see all the efforts that have happened on CulT.

-you can get the disc by using a special DVD-Rom drive..-then you have the files-you need to extract the files - the ARC unpacker is not public for good reasons-you need to convert the models - the converter code is not yet really public eitherso: GOOD LUCK

If he keeps on doing this, let me know. The Mods have a nice new glowy-red button labeled "BAN" that I've been itching to use, and if he's harassing that's good enough for me.

Now, by "Special," do you mean the Xbox 360 DVD Rom Drive? Or a type of hacked, bootleg one? But meh, even if I got either one, it'd be useless, seeing as how all of the extractors aren't open source. Oh, and sorry khorney, I just thought you knew something. :lThis might as well be closed and stamped "TOTAL FUCKING HOPELESS"

well, the "special" DVD drive is a standard PC IDE drive.. to make it short: Samsung SH-D162Cit requires a special firmware - or already buy it modded.. THIS one can read X360 games (I basically use it, paid 10€ for it and ripped games using Xbox Backup Creator).. using wx360 you can extract the files from the ISO.. however that won't help you at all.. as those files are packed..

Link, does that samsung let you play xbox 360 games on your pc? or do you rip the iso and then use an emulator? haven't seen an emulator for the 360 yet. and by packed, are you sayin if i ripped it, then i would be able to use the models in 3ds max?

No, No, No!1. That Samsung drive lets you rip X360 games on your PC without any additional hardware or such. I even recommend you getting that drive if you want to rip games as you do not need to disassemble your X360 then just for ripping and all.2. You will need an emulator to play the games on your PC - such an emulator DOES NOT EXIST at the moment and it's highly unlikely there will be one within the next 5 years - and even if it won't be fast considering the X360 has a triple core 3.2 GHz - to emulate that properly you'd need at least a 15 GHz system and it seems transistor CPU technique won't be able to achieve this,3. The ISO is in a special format - however, applications such as wx360 can extract it.4. Sonic Next additionally uses a special archive format which is cracked - you can unpack the files if you get the ARC unpacker (do not ask me for it - I give it to people but only to those I know they have use for it and know how to use command line applications!)5. Even once you unpacked the ARC files - you need to convert the models to 3DS - there is a converter, I have it (thank you, Volthorn) - but still, I won't give it to people I fear they might abuse the models (such as for http://forums.facepu...ad.php?t=141860 or stupid fan YouTube movies).Having said that, I made my points clear. Now you should theoretically know everything about the game, but practically it won't be of any use to you.So don't ask me!

I do have GMod myself.. if they make proper adjustments of the next-gen models I could accept it I guess.. what I personally hate are those very stupid recolors.. I belong to the few in this forum who accept fancharacters as long as they are creative.. recolors of official ones are definitely not creative and that's what those idiots at facepunch do - it even seems that the creator of the other models (???unknown???) doesn't like those recolors either.. and I bet if someone releases a next-gen Sonic there.. we'll soon see a black Sonic.. and a red one.. and all that stupid shit and I do not want to think about it..I once downloaded a "model pack" of them but I stick to the old "official" one containing the characters the way they should look like! POINT. That "model pack" kinda contained 5% normal design and 95% of black tails (with the creative name: bails) and other stupid ones - and I do not want that to happen to the next-gen models too.. I once gave them out.. but to someone I knew he'd not abuse them but basically just for personal play-arounds (he wants to become animator and therefore seeks out every possible challenge to bone and animate new models).

Does anyone want to see a model of your fan character? Unlikely.

There were already many people having them there.. they were posted for several hours and kinda spread. This guy so far forget the textures so they are not of use for the fags there.. besides they need to bone them, ragdoll them and QC them.. and noone over there to my knowledge is able to do this... so still kinda safe area..
