Keep in mind that it was mainly Gen's idea to keep the model distribution on the down low, its just him and I share the same views on it, and I'm in a higher position of power to keep them distributed at a minimal amount, if at all. I'd also rather have cult's own people work on rigging up these models properly, as that way we can keep tabs on what the status is in #cult. On a side note, Technokami, I've got a lot of extra space on the server we're on now, so you *really* don't need to have multiple hosts now.

Oooh, then I can make the models section a private area of the new site (and make it use something SQL-based for once).

Well, Gen had good reasons to decide not to publish the widely.. because it's already known the fags at facepunch would like to have them. I guess, they wouldn't be able to use them anyway but if they somehow succeeded it would be seriously terrible to see what they would make out of them.I on my side do not mind texture edits as long as they do not become recolors.. okay, Akimbo's might look a little shiny.. anyway it's still obviously Sonic and considering Sonic styles Sega already did many different..However, those guys on other pages - once they have them properly rigged they'd rip them apart, do recolors and all that stupid stuff.I just link to some pictures, posting them would be an insult to the forum:http://i173.photobuc.../DarkSSonic.jpghttp://i173.photobuc...niverse0000.jpghttp://img105.images...ruct0083xc7.jpgthose are just examples.. in fact they did many more stupid recolors which make the characters look like shit - I do not mind fan characters (I know many hate them over here) as long as they are creative... and to make it short: recolors fail when it comes to creativity and those fags over there celebrate them as if they achieved anything special - fortunately their model maker stopped working because otherwise even more characters would have been raped! One minor side not: I have Garry's Mod, I have many models included (Sonic characters, Mario ones, Zelda, Kirby's and many more) - but recolors... none (one slipped in but survived 20 seconds after being spotted). Conclusion: the models should remain for people who'd know what to do with them and not simply "omg can't model so change texture to uber stupidity"!

The models will be rigged, and have new UV coordinates at a later date. By later date, I mean when I feel like it.

In some ways yes, if you count texure wrapping and UV Mapping as Recoloring.

Changing a texture to be another color, would still be considered a recolor. UV Mapping wouldn't have anything to do with it, and you can still change the color of the model's materials without a texture to apply.

That is so obviously a hoax that I have to sit here and ruin the joke. Thanks for the awesome models, that link is so totally legitimate.

Not at all actually. If you pay close attention, you'll see that Darkspine Sonic is a retool just like Super Sonic. (and probably a heavier one at that). The rule of thumb is that if anything other than colors change then it's a retool. Otherwise, it's a recolor.

Which can be just as bad as a recolor.

That's sadly true, because it gets half assed a lot of the time (Burning Blaze WTF?)

I know its completely futile up to this point but i feel id like to ask anyways.I am an animator by trade, im not working for no shit-tacular mod or some lame ass stupid production. Rather i enjoy making animation tests and am happy to do any and all work required to make the models work on my own. I havent come here from no other website, im more of a lurker here than anything (sorry i dont post often) and i read the hacking threads quite often. (and im uninterested of redistribution)With that being said, Gen or Volthorn, is it alright if i contact either of you via PM or Email for at least one or two of the models? I could go and grab the Heroes models, but they don't interest me in a way the next gen ones do. You could imagine my disappointment when i was flipping through the pages and getting my hopes built up for a link somewhere to download them, just to find they've been ripped down and possibly never aired again.Anyways thats enough from me, please do inform me of what i need to do, in all honesty, to convince you to allow me to have some of them (aside from the obligatory "Go fuck yourself and then well talk" spiel)cheers! And might i say, Link, dude, seriously im not sure how often you hear it, but god, you are ... words cant describe how awesome you are at your experimental hacking :)Oh! And something was brought up pages back ago about "how complete the game is compared to SEGAs vision" and wasn;t properly addressed. I believe an official SEGA rep mentioned about 2 weeks before the games release "Its about 70% Done." The vid is on Gametrailers coverage of SEGA somewhere, its way too late in the night to warrant myself working up the energy to go find it lol.Keep up the phenominal work guys!(not an update in quite some time but i still needed to post this)

Nice way to bump a TWO year old topic. Should have went to the model ripping thread and asked, or better yet, fileburger and asked. Have fun with your stay at Cult.

It's not like he'd have any success in either.

All three, you mean. He's already doomed his place here.

Hey this is where i posted for the first time. Brings back memories, seriously though, a 2 year bump? Makes me wonder if people even try anymore.Edit: Wow just went through and read them, thank christ it was on topic as all of them are pretty much "Hey Chaos blast should be made bigger with your hacking skills!"
