http://www.zeldacent...re%20Temple.midyeah, I know, the theme to fire temple in Legend of Zelda. woo. big deal. however...it is different from...http://zeldafn.com/d...Fire_Temple.mp3apparently...according to the site,

Quote

One of the songs, the original theme for the Fire Temple, angered the Muslim community, who felt that it was based on an Islamic prayer chant. In response, Nintendo redid the Fire Temple theme for later cartridges. Many fans prefer the original theme to the new one—the premium placed on the NTSC gold cartridges is in part because those cartridges have the original Fire Temple theme
http://zeldafn.com/download/music/oot/---that's the site. anyway. I found it interesting. but, for all I know it's probably old. but, I figured I post it. I mean, not like this forum is too lively...

This was actually reported here before I believe, so this isn't exactly new, but it probably isn't completely old.

It's also changed on the GC version (the bonus disc with the Master Quest version). I always thought it got changed because of soccer moms complaining that the chanting was "satantic". Never knew about the Muslim community part of it.

Wow, this is totally new to me. I would understand why they changed it; I find it way too creepy.

Heard about this years ago =\All I remember from my cart is that it sounded like Gorons were being tortured far in the distance.EDIT: Which from the looks of things would be the second (original) one. You can actually hear a lot of elements from the original one put right back into the remade one. The drums and the "tingle" sounds are right there.I agree that it's really freakin creepy though.

Hahahaha, yeah sure. Also, Genocide City was removed from Sonic 2 because the angry parents told Sonic Team it was bad for their children!Nintendo's censors are known for doing this kind of stupid crap from way before Zelda 64, no angry community is gonna make them change stuff like that. =P

I think the older one suited the whole 'temple' idea better than the second one... Agreed it is a bit freaky... But that's what makes it cool. =P

When will you religious people and you parents learn. If you find a game offencive, don't buy it. Don't fight to change it.That music is freaky. Sounds like someone is being tourtured in the second one.

Meh. I prefer the music the way it is now. I'm not really fond of the first theme. I've got OoT V1.0 and 1.2, and the only real difference between the two is the Fire Temple music, and the colour of the blood that Ganondorf spits out after defeating him. (1.0 = red; 1.2 = green)

IIRC, Nintendo had a policy of not having any religious references in their games or something, and you can clearly hear the "Allah akbar" and this kind of chanting all over the original theme, so Nintendo most likely have changed this music to avoid offending Muslims or something =PAs for your Genocide City thing, this level was removed before the game was even released, so no "angry parents" even got to know about it =P

Yeah I know, just bringing back one of those silly rumors from the Sonic scene's old days.

Well, it is true that you learn something new every day! I've had my gold OoT cart gathering dust for years and never realized any of this. Now I'm going to have to dust it off and start a new game! (now I just wonder where I put my Rumble Pack™ as well?)

I don't think it was changed based on any reason. Majora's Mask had different swords, so respectively the game would have a new shield. And the gold cartridge isn't the only version that had the chanting. Some of the gray cartridges had the chanting too. Basically, all of the versions that weren't player's choice (version 1.0 and 1.1) had chanting. Version 1.2 was changed.

Aside from the change in music, the mirror shield's symbol as well as the symbols on all the buttons and blocks were changed from the cresent moon and star (as it's apparently the symbol of Turkey and Islam) to just some other symbol. Another change from v 1.0 and v 1.1 is towards the end after defeating Ganondorf, he coughs up blood. In the gold carts and early gray ones, the blood was red. It was later changed to green because the laws in Germany prohibit the sale of games with red blood (or so I've read). I've both 1.1 and 1.2 versions of the game so I've seen all these changes, but the reasoning behind it is more or less speculative.
