HELL YES. Any mention of a new PowerMac?EDIT: Just saw it on Apple's site. I wonder how much faster the new PowerMacs will be... Also, you should beable to dual Win and X without any problems. They both are Intel x86 compatible.

All of the older PowerPC Mac apps, and Universal binarys. Also, Darwine will let you run windows apps on it as soon as it gets finished. Also, I run all kinds of things on my Mac:Doom 3UT2004/2003/99Photoshop CS 2NexuizQuake 1,2,3 (and soon) 4Cinema 4DMayaLightwave 3DiLifeApple's Pro apps

Having an Intel chip doesn't necessarily mean it can magically run Windows XP without a lot of hacking (if it's even possible at all). There's a lot more to a computer than its CPU, and the Mac has never been just a PC with a different CPU. Just because the Raiden arcade games use a 386 doesn't mean I could ever hope to run DOS on them.

I hate to bust your bubble, but these days, a mac IS a PC with a different cpu...well, was. Everything's gone standard, video card, connections, the whole everything. In fact, Windows XP would boot and run on the test systems. Nobody's gotten their paws on the final machines to check that Apple didn't pull a switcheroo, but I doubt it.Oh and OS X for Intel looks for something in the BIOS to make sure it's on Apple hardware. Not that THAT won't get hacked right out :rolleyes:EDIT: and on a note to Crimsonnugget and anyone who cares about what works: everything that's in the box is native Intel. Firefox, Colloquy, and a slewhole of other lil apps that everybody uses have (for the most part) been universal binaries for a while, since the kiddies with the development systems were like 'hey firefox send me your code and I'll compile it' and they were like 'kay' and it worked and everyone ejaculated penguins. MS, Adobe, and the other big names all said 'we'll support intel' and the older apps just run in pseudo emulation, where you can't tell that it's an oldschool app other than that it's kinda slow.

Apple's already announced that they wouldn't be preventing anyone from installing a MS OS on the new macs. It's already been speculated what processor would be used in the Macbook (<-yes, that is a gay name) before it was released. Everything is standard intel like blamemyparents said, except for the motherboard, which uses a special TPM chip that Mac OS X detects. Without the TPM chip, Mac OS X wouldn't run at all. Naturally the TPM chip has special data on it to distinguish it from future TPM chips in newer publically available motherboards that will ship with it. For more info on TPM:http://wiki.osx86pro...i/index.php/TPM

Am I the only person who finds that slogan a desperate shot at grabbing attention, much like Everquest 2's slogan of "Tired of a World of Waiting? Play Everyquest 2 NOW!" targeted against World of Warcraft back in it's server issues time period?

They're trying to tell us Intel chips haven't done shit on a PC? Please. I'm pretty sure PCs generally use more CPU than Macs do simply because Windows is oh so shit compared to OS X, according to the fanboys. Either way, it's a really shitty slogan.

Well, then. Consider my bubble burst and my words eaten.Does this mean we'll start seeing a ton of viruses "ported" to the Mac? =P

Official answer on the run Windows thing:http://www.msnbc.msn...4396/from/RS.3/Apple "won't sell or support Windows itself, but also hasn't done anything to preclude people from loading Windows onto the machines themselves""That's fine with us. We don't mind. . . . If there are people who love our hardware but are forced to put up with a Windows world, then that's OK."I'm curious what Apple's policy will be about repairing machines with hardware problems but are running Windows, but odd's are it will be no different from their policy with Macs running Linux, which ....crap, I have no clue what they do.Either way, I bet more techie users will be delighted to dual boot, mid level kiddies will be happy to have speedy VPC emulation, and people who are grandmas/artsy fartsy/normal will notice no difference.Of note, MS said that the next version of VPC will not emulate a video card, but use the system's built in one (this was a major bottleneck). Between Intel processor and native gpu use (finally), making Windows-only games run would be feasible. ish. WINE anyone?

http://www.engadget....-is-good-to-go/According to th...wait, the url says it. If you care, you can read more.Oh for those who plan on purchasing a new computer sometime....ever: Everything is going to go EFI eventually, but unlike the new macs, you're not going to lose support for XP and below, since EFI can act like oldschool BIOSes act now to get them going. However, nobody knows if Apple included that EFI trick in their computers. I'd bet not.

Only Apple would use something that isn't standard in PCs today.
