Isn't that a bit much to stick in a single post? You could always put it in a .asm file, or put it in a codebox or something... Sorry to nitpick, but I can hardly make this out as-is. :x

Also, a disassembly isn't necessarily source code, but this is still pretty cool to have available. I wonder if this will lead to any more extensive Metroid hacks in the future?

Eh, I dunno. The term "disassembly" means it's assembled. What was the rom assembled from? Code. What was it disassembled from? The rom. So to me, a disassembly is a form of source code, even if it isn't 100% the same. Anywho, Snowbro was an amazing hacker (he's the one who made tile layer pro) and he lists it as source code. So I'll just repect his document.

Well, while this is TECHNICALLY source code, it's not THE source code which the game was compiled from. A disassembly means that the game has been reverse engineered to reveal it's source code without comments or the labels which developers would have used and it wouldn't be 1:1 with the original source code. It's like pouring juice from one glass into another, it tastes the same but appearance will differ from glass-to-glass and you'll leave behind a small part of the juice you originally poured in the first glass.

I don't care either way, to me this is just the same as calling EEPROM dumps "ROM" yet CD images "ISO"...

By that metaphor, is evaporation bitrot? =D

Nice stuff, though, especially as it's been done for a game that isn't a Sonic title. Don;t get me wrong, it's nice to have Sonic disassemblies, it's just that's all people seem to do =P

Trasher once told me that someone made a hack that added a rudimentary minimap and Power Bombs to the game. However this was some time ago, and I don't have any screens or links (heck I don't think the hack was ever given a public release)

I don't get it.
Did you make this?

It's been on romhacking.net for over a year:
