Full Version: Xegg and the new X-cult are finally here!

Ok, so here's the skinny. Over the last billion months Sazpaimon and I have been busting our asses to put the new X-Cult together. He recoded the old php that ran sonic-cult/x-cult, and I've been downloading, organizing, separating stuff to go online. Problem is, I have over 1,500 titles. That's right, over 1,500 different games, all with material ready to go online. Stuff from Sonic, to Resident Evil, to Mario, to Shitglove. My PC is fucking overflowing with materials and we REALLY need help to put it all online. I also have over 40 FUCKING GIGS of magazine scans that we need to poke around.

So what we need are people interested in being part of the great X-Cult database build. We need folks to grab ahold of their favorite game series, genre, system, whatever and go to town updating the sections involved.

Please let us know if and what you'd be interested in adding or working on, and we'll get you set up.

Service guarantees citizenship.

I don't even know exactly what you're asking for me to do (go through info? Write articles? Just time FTPing?), but I'd be happy to do anything involving Pokémon or the Wario Land series.

I'll work on Super Mario Bros 2/Doki Doki Panic and Super Mario World. I'll assume I'll be filled in on what you need me to do?

EDIT: Now that I think about it I'd like to do Super Mario Galaxy too.
P.P.A.
I'm not exactly sure what you want us to do. Just put the available info in order and make the pages, or wade through the available sources on certain games and then write articles about them?
SSUK
Here's the various ways YOU can help X-CulT. I was actually going to make a topic the other day on this issue, since I knew XEgg was coming, just not exactly when.

1. Behold Protopia, take whatever you can from here, clip magazine screenshots of potential proto content, download prototype roms, note differences in screenshots (preferred) or text (do good write-ups).

2. Go onto the internet, search for a game you've played recently. Doesn't matter how old it is. Look at screenshots, look at videos... See/hear anything different? Snag it, post it.

3. We may need people to convert old CulT pages to XEgg pages. The content migration process will be manual (or last I heard), so we'll need people to convert these pages. It's a simple case of viewing the source, finding where the main content starts (not headers or the CulT template) and copy-pasting it into the XEgg Wiki version and wait for it to be approved by the mods.

I, of course, have a fair bit of information waiting to go into XEgg. So give me a bell when we're adding stuff to XEgg.

Well, I'll start working on a new SA1 page if you want.

I'll be willing to add with the Luigi's Mansion page, since it is quite outdated now in comparison to my own site.

I can also do just about every Mario game as well.

Could I do Metroid, Kirby, or JapanStudio PSP games?
Phugolz
You can do anything you like! I have made notice of you who have offered your services. Currently we are in a waiting mode as I gather the new cemetery together. I also have exports of the various current X-cult pages which I'll hope to have ready soon.

So, are we retaining the current format, or is it going to be wiki like, or some custom format?
SSUK
The site will now operate more like a Wiki, but retaining the same CulT page style that we had before. All you need to do is enter the content in the Wiki version of the site, mods then ensure the content is acceptable (by that I mean it isn't spam or nonsensical crap) and then it becomes the CulT page. You can add as much content as you like, don't think you're limited to do so.
